By Mitchell Ashley, President and General Manager, Kyrio —
Today we are announcing the re-branding of NetworkFX to our new name, Kyrio. The driving strategy of Kyrio is to expand the impact of technologies created at CableLabs, beyond the well proven technology transfer model that’s made CableLabs a successful global cable industry R&D organization.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of CableLabs, Kyrio (then NetworkFX) was founded in 2012 to bring our managed Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) security services to industry associations, device manufactures and businesses beyond the traditional cable market. The same managed PKI service securing cable devices and broadband networks for the past 15 years now secures the Wi-Fi Alliance and OpenADR smart grid ecosystems and large enterprises. Because of the success in PKI, we’ve launched other new offerings leveraging the technologies created by our parent company. (More about these new services in a moment.)
So why Kyrio? The origin of Kyrio comes from the Greek word kyrios meaning “lord” or “master”, and represents the deep technology heritage and skills of the people at Kyrio and our collective industries. Our name also embodies the curiosity that drives us to bring new technologies and services to market, to better serve our customers and the customers they serve.
Since 2012, Kyrio has expanded into additional service offerings. Kyrio provides the Go2Broadband service, an online web services platform facilitating millions of web transactions each year between cable service providers and channel affiliate partners.
Kyrio also tests wi-fi and powerline network devices utilizing our anechoic chamber and test house facilities in Louisville and Brighton Colorado, respectively. Kyrio wi-fi testing services aids equipment manufacturers in creating very high-performance wi-fi devices and guides communications providers in making the best equipment procurement decisions for their networks.
We are also piloting a wi-fi roaming hub service to simplify and expand customer network access across multiple wi-fi network providers. Our managed PKI security services continues to broaden its offerings into new markets and applications. And the creative minds behind our company continue to innovate and create new opportunities for Kyrio ahead.
Thank you for welcoming us as we reintroduce ourselves as Kyrio. Kyrio is an exciting company to be a part of and I look forward to our team sharing more with you in the coming blog posts ahead. We have an exciting future together.
