SunSpec Alliance, the information standards and certification organization for the Distributed Energy Resource (DER) industry, today announced that it has named Kyrio one of its first SunSpec Authorized Test Laboratory (SunSpec ATL) partners. Kyrio is approved to provide SunSpec Certified Testing services on behalf of SunSpec Alliance member companies.
We are excited to join the SunSpec Alliance and bring our long history of device certification to this rapidly growing renewable energy industry. Kyrio has certified more than 1,500 networked devices, resulting in 2.3 billion units shipped since 2001, and we look forward to the privilege of certifying devices for SunSpec members to make renewable energy products and devices as safe and secure as possible.
SunSpec Certified Testing Program
The SunSpec Certified Testing program is unique in that its standards enable transparent interoperability between solar PV and energy storage Distributed Energy (DE) plants, including system components, software applications and the smart grid. By certifying a device through this program, manufacturers can expect to reap the benefits of interoperability and security to accelerate growth, lower costs and enhance customer confidence.
In addition, this program has recently been updated to fulfill its responsibilities as the compliance authority for California Rule 21 requirements, which will roll out to the state of California over the next year. Additionally, the SunSpec Certified Testing program was designed with scalability in mind to help drive nationwide adoption across the United States in the near future. Kyrio has partnered with SunSpec Alliance to help ensure that manufacturers experience a seamless workflow that drives renewable energy products from development through certification and production.
Extending Innovation in the Distributed Energy Resources Industry
Kyrio was spun out of CableLabs as a means to propel innovation forward in the long term. As a subsidiary of CableLabs, our unique organizational structure allows us extend the reach of technology development outside the broadband and wireless ecosystems and bring our technical expertise to new industries.
Today, Kyrio is engaged with more than 30 global standards groups spanning the energy, industrial and commercial Internet of Things (IoT) and medical industries. Kyrio works with several standards organizations in those industries, including the Open Connectivity Foundation, OpenADR Alliance, Center for Medical Interoperability, and more to further technological innovation—with the greater goal of ensuring greater security and superior end user experience for networked devices.
We are excited about this new chapter to partner with SunSpec Alliance companies in their certification journey in the DER industry. To learn more about how to get started in SunSpec Certified Testing and how you can get started working with Kyrio, click the button below.
