CableLabs has launched a qualification testing process that aims to ensure interoperability between Remote PHY Devices (RPDs) that are made by multiple vendors.
Kyrio, the for-profit unit of CableLabs, recently took over the certification testing for the cable industry’s Colorado-based R&D group and is implementing new processes and pricing for DOCSIS 3.1-based products.
CableLabs subsidiary Kyrio has been tapped by the Open Connectivity Foundation to perform Internet of Things (IoT) device certification testing.
Cable operator Midco recently signed an agreement with Kyrio to leverage the company’s Wi-Fi roaming hub to expand the service reach for their customers.
Mitch Ashley, the president of CableLabs’ Kyrio, said the operation expects to launch Wi-Fi roaming services for as many as nine cable operators in the US.
CableLabs has rebranded its three-year-old for-profit, security-focused spin-off subsidiary, NetworkFX, into the more broadly skewing “Kyrio.”
